Most often, Missionaries, Pastors, and other Christian leaders are facing normal pressures and issues that wear them down over time. They get stuck in ruts of thinking and how they see things. They face challenges without seeming solutions. Often being able to process these things in a safe and constructive environment where one knows they are listened to and understood is tremendously helpful. This allows one to “break through’ the mental barriers to gain new perspectives for the future and discover new courses of action.

We have found that “Life Coaching” is an effective way to help Missionaries and Pastors make progress in their lives. Therefore each of our staff in all of our Oases have been trained in the basic art of coaching. Please take advantage of this care service if you want to process some issue you face.

The Art of Coaching has been defined in the following ways.

“Coaches are change experts who help leaders take responsibility and act to maximize their own potential.”

“Coaching is like having a personal trainer for every area of your life.”

“Coaching is a dialogue, not a monologue.” – Joseph Umidi

“Coaching is practicing the disciplines of believing in people in order to empower them to change.” -- Tony Stoltzfus

“Coaching is unlocking a person’ potential to maximize their growth.” – John Whitmore

“Coaching is the art and practice of guiding a person or group from where they are toward the greater competence and fulfillment that they desire.” – Gary Collins

“Mentoring is imparting to you what God has given me; coaching is drawing out of you what God has put in you.” -- Dale Stoll

Difference Between Coaching and Counseling

The counselor is diagnosing the client’s emotional or psychological state and helping the client become whole. By contrast, the coach pushes the client to set goals and take action to solve the problem on their own. Coaching improves your quality of life by focusing on creating a better future, instead of by fixing problems from the past.

The coaching approach is not “superior” to the counseling approach, or vice versa. Both are valid, useful and different. Which one you use depends on the person and what they want to have accomplished. -- Tony Stolzfus

“The purpose in a man’s mind is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out.”
-- Proverbs 20:5
