Basketball

Several courts are scattered around Sunriver offering the chance for a family basketball game.

Bicycling

There are over 35 miles of paved bicycle trails in Sunriver. We'll provide the bikes - you provide the energy!

Canoeing & Kayaking

We can provide you with a canoe and 2 kyacks. Escape from people and noise on a downstream journey that will take you down the Deschutes River toward the Benham Falls, a 6-mile trip. Enjoy the ducks, geese, and other wildlife as you paddle away. (Sorry, no alligators!)

Cross Country Skiing

With 56 kilometers of outstanding terrain and the longest ski season in North America, cross country skiing at Mt. Bachelor is world-renown. Whether it's skating, striding or snowshoeing, you'll discover that a day spent cruising in the beautiful Deschutes National Forest is hard to beat! Besides the groomed trails of Mt. Bachelor, there are many miles of other trails in the National Forest as well.

Down Hill Skiing

Mt. Bachelor offers some of the best skiing in the Cascade Mountain Range with miles of downhill trails and excellent lifts to choose from. The season runs from late fall to Memorial Day. A shuttles is available from the Sunriver Lodge to the mountain and back. In the summer, the chair-lift takes you to the top for a breathtaking view of the region, as well as a meal or drink at the Restaurant.

Fishing

Fish for big Rainbow, Brown and Brook trout as well as Atlantic Salmon in the best lakes and rivers in Central Oregon - East and Paulina Lakes, Wickiup, Crane Prarie, Lava Lake, Davis, Hosmer, East Lake and the Deschutes River. If needed a Guide Service is available. For example, Sunriver Guides and Outfitters offer guided trips on classic streams such as the Williamson, Wood, Sprague, Crooked, Rogue, McKenzie and Fall River. In addition, they have access to private lakes managed for trophy trout. They also provide winter and spring steelhead trips on the famous upper Rogue River. The Deschutes steelhead start migrating upriver from the Columbia in August. By September the fish are thick, generally peaking in late October, and the fishing remains productive through November. Recent years have produced some of the largest runs in the last decade.

Fitness Club

Guests of Life Impact may use a local Fitness Club, the Mavericks, for $20 per person per day. Treadmills, weights, and state-of-the-art exercise machines are available. Also an indoor basketball gym, climbing room, and computerized game room are included in the daily fee. An indoor swimming pool for adults and children rounds out your day of exercise and indoor fun.

Golfing

In early spring the multitude of golf courses open to the delight of the local Tiger Woods wannabees. If you are one of those who enjoys chasing a little white ball around a green field with the beautiful Cascade Mountains in the background, you will be in your element here. Any direction you walk, bike, or drive will bring you to a golf course. We'll provide the clubs and balls - you provide the expertise to get it in the hole or out of the pond.

High Desert Museum

Watch a golden eagle watching you from just a few feet away. Experience the dark chill and eerie sounds of an underground mine. Visit a 1950's Indian reservation. See porcupines eat and otters play. And stop by the Settler's Cabin to check out their garden and pump water from the well. With these and many other dynamic lively exhibits, The High Desert Museum takes you on a journey through the region's past and present. You'll discover the land, the people, the animals, the art, the science, and the cultures. Plan on at least 3-5 hours. The Rimrock Café offers delicious meals indoors or on the patio, and the Silver Sage Trading is packed with a unique selection of nature and history books, educational toys, handmade jewelry and baskets, and one-of-a-kind gifts. Hiking

In every season, trails abound and can be found and followed.

Horseback Riding

All year round horses and ponies can be rented at the Sunriver Saddleback Stables for various types and lengths of rides. The 4-hour High Desert Ride, for example, begins by crossing over the Deschutes River into national forest territory. The ride takes you to the highest point of Ramseys Ridge, captivating the serenity of Sunriver Valley below. A lunch is provided after that in a peaceful meadow on the Deschutes river. November through March you can even get a sleigh ride over the snow covered roads around the area.

Ice Skating

Ice skates can be rented at the covered skating rink in the Sunriver Mall. This is open mornings and afternoons in the winter.

Miniature Golf

Frustrate yourself for only a few dollars while you attempt a hole-in-one at the miniature golfing range in the Sunriver Mall, during the warm months.

Rock Climbing

Shopping

You can always spend money in the Sunriver area on things you don't need but wish you had. Bend boasts 3 shopping malls as well as an Outlet Mall for a fun shopping outing to get those things you want to bring back to the field with you.

Snowmobiling

There are hundreds of miles of trails and scenic mountain views which may be enjoyed from the snowmobile seat in the majestic Cascade Mountains. Thirty minutes from Sunriver are at least three snow parks. From there it is only minutes to warming huts or six Cascade lakes. The rental season starts when the snow pack is around 3 feet (usually Thanksgiving) and continues through Memorial Day.

Snowshoeing

Exploring on a pair of show shoes is a whole new way to experience Mt. Bachelor and the beautiful Deschutes National Forest. Go where no one else can go on a serene snowshoe trek into the snow muffled forests of the Cascades.

Sum Mountain Fun Center

Located in the Bend River Mall, the Fun Center provides hours of family fun indoors and out through their Batting Cage, Water Wars, World Class Sidekick Go-Kart's, Bowling Lanes even for the little ones, 18-hole mini-Golf, and their Video Arcade. www.sunmountainfun.com (541) 382-6161

Swimming

Sunriver offers two large swimming pools with kiddy pools for your enjoyment during the summer. During the winter, our local health club offers swimming in an indoor pool for a daily entrance fee, and swimming is offered in Bend, Oregon, 15 miles north of Sunriver..

Tennis

Sunriver abounds in outdoor tennis courts so you never need wait for a court. In the winter, the local tennis club offers the opportunity to continue playing with snow falling outside.

Tubing

Mt. Bachelor's tubing park has doubled in size from last year and features two specially designed tubing lifts, offering fun for riders of all ages. Riders must be at least 42 inches tall and anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver prior to tubing.
